This was actually my first Vietnam Veteran design.
As I didn't want to offend anyone by using or not using their loved ones name, I put the name George I. Jones on the bracelet and the capture date as 1-21.
George I. Jones is better know as G.I.Joe and 1-21 is my birthday.
The term WELCOME HOME was really established after Vietnam.
Because public opinion was so low about the Vietnam Veteran, the phrase WELCOME HOME BROTHER from one vet to another became very significant because it reassured the returning vet that there was someone who really cared.
Today, it is a way of showing honor and respect to each other. We always say to any vet, "WELCOME HOME BROTHER"
